Questions and Answers

Can I still become a famous singer?

I'm a 16 year old guy and I have a passion for singing, but there are some things that concern me.

1) My voice isn't all that original. Just about everyone I know says I sound like 50% Adam Levine (Maroon 5), 25% Michael Buble (grew up singing Jazz) and 25% Old-school Chris Brown (perhaps I sound a bit young lol) when it comes to my voice but I have a voice powerful enough to sing most songs effortlessly

How can I market myself to be different, especially since I'm thinking of forming and becoming famous as a band and singing Pop/Rock similar to Maroon 5/One Republic/Bruno Mars/Adam Lambert?

2) I'm Asian-Canadian (born and raised in Canada, parents from China) and I have no accent and no intentions of ever working in Asia. I plan to start a band at University in Canada and touring Southern Ontario and NY State than after graduation move to California to further our careers (I'm planning on getting signed/a proper fanbase before moving to Cali)

Can a multiracial band (consisting of white, black, and asian performers) with an Asian Lead singer hit the big time and become famous?

Thanks

Also, I don't dress like K-Pop stars…I dress like the average teenager; with a couple of celebrity-like tweaks lol

Would I be subject to racism, seeing as the only Asian celebrities in North America portray stereotypical characters (ie; Bobby Lee, Peter Chao, Ken Jeong, etc.)
Also, will it be smarter for me to hit big/some type of big before moving to Los Angeles?

And are there a lot of single, pretty, American girls down there in SoCal? I've always wanted to date a pretty Californian girl 🙂

I've been to LA lots of times before but if im talking about settling, are there good singles there?
BTW my mom keeps discouraging me by saying "You're Asian, you won't make it too far here. Try going to Asia." but SoCal is where I want to go, not China and work at my uncle's business.

I mean, MJ was one of the first black performers, and he changed a lot of things. If he could do it, why can't I?
I'm not racist at all, its just that my parents are being quite discouraging 🙁

God knows all about you, and the most important thing I can urge you to do is to commit your life and your future into His hands. God loves you, and He knows what is best for you.

After all, have you ever asked yourself why you had this as your goal? I don't know what your answer would be, of course, but I do know this: Fame can be a very dangerous thing. Yes, it might look glamorous to have millions of people liking you and cheering you on — but is it really? How many people in the public eye are truly happy? How many celebrities fall victim to addiction, divorce, or even suicide? Over the years, countless celebrities have confessed to me how empty their lives really were. Like the writer of Ecclesiastes, they discovered to their sorrow that "everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind" (Ecclesiastes 2:11).

Instead, I urge you to commit your life to Christ and seek His will for your future. God made you, and He wants you to use whatever gifts He has given you for His glory. Turn to Jesus and ask Him to come into your life today. You'll never regret it.

Then seek God's will for your future. Almost your whole life is ahead of you; don't waste it. Instead commit your life to Christ and learn to walk with Him every day. Remember: God's way is always best.

Am I too different/mature to make friends my age?

I'm 16 and I don't speak much. But I use "big words" and I tend to be a little more empathetic than the average teenager. Mainly because I hate seeing people in pain. (I've been through divorce, abuse, and loss of a loved one).

Most of my friends are adults I noticed. I have about three or four mature teenaged friends (they're 17-18 though). And the friends I do make are usually older than me.

I'm not physically mature though. I'm 5'6 and skinny. Most people think I look like I'm 13.

I don't like shopping for clothes but I'm not gay. And I really like The Beatles, Billy Joel, and Michael Buble.

How am I different? I text and go on Facebook like everyone else.
