How about Ella Fitzgerald singing " A-tisket, A-tasket"? You have the best of both worlds. A fantastic voice and the best Big Band ever. Went to see Basie many years ago, totally unforgettable.

Ella Fitzgerald Basin Street Blues–ending: Her mimicking Louis Armstrong, or Armstrong singing high?

It sounds too high to be Louis, maybe falsetto, but sounds too high for him. Someone discussing it with me says it sounds like a female voice, but it has Armstrong's gravel and scat style.

Ella had amazing skill and she did Louis voice all the time, especially when Louis was playing live with her! There were gigs that Louis would show up to unannounced, trumpet in hand… And when he'd walk into the room, she immediately switch her voice. Louis and Ella had a wonderful friendship that was apparent whenever they sang together. My favorite rendition of them together (and of her Louis Armstrong impression) is Moonlight in Vermont.

When I hear her scat, she reminds me of an awesome trumpet player. I don't think that's a coincidence.

She's amazing… Their both Amazing!

I Need Some Jazz Blues or Swing Type Songs?

I'm a 16 year old girl with a powerful voice; I'm a soprano but I can definately sing low as well. I love singing Norah Jones and It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got That Swing but I have no clue what songs are similar to those that can bring out my voice in a positive way.

Sowing, with Oates – Denton Record Chronicle

Denton Record ChronicleSowing, with OatesDenton Record ChronicleBut Willis grew up in Chicago, studying the songs of Natalie Maines and Ella Fitzgerald.
