Questions and Answers
I lead music at our churches children program and we have sorta hit a block when it comes to our music
for music we are limited on time and attention spans so the songs we chose to sing are short, easy to remember, catchy and most of all their fun and keep the children moving
for example
Making Melodies
We've got JOY
Jesus is the rock
B-I-B-L-E
I am trying to find more songs. Any help would be wonderful.
This Little Light Of Mine
He's Got The Whole World In His Hands

Its obviously a male singing. I heard it on air one but didnt catch the name. It was a really nice song. He's talking about how they need him to keep them safe. The first verse he is singing about his wife and then the second about his children and the chorus is the same for both.. Probably not enough info but I thought I would ask just in case! 🙂
Lead Me lyrics
Sanctus Real – “Lead Me”
I look around and see my wonderful life
Almost perfect from the outside
In picture frames I see my beautiful wife
Always smiling
But on the inside, I can hear her saying…
“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, what about us?
Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”
I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes
They're just children from the outside
I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine
They're independent
But on the inside, I can hear them saying…
“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, but what about us?
Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”
So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I'm called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't You lead me?
To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't
Don't want to leave them hungry for love,
Chasing things that I could give up
I'll show them I'm willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this our home
Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone
Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone.
I teach a choir of 8-10 year old kids at a lutheran church and i have a really hard time finding music for them that isn't overly childish. I've actually had to rearrange many pieces for high school/college level choirs in order to find something that challenges them. They are really quick learners, and we do everything by rote. Any suggestions of fun yet challenging christian children songs or resources for finding them?
I think you're already doing it the right way. Kids songs are for 5-year-olds. These kids are old enough to be learning real hymns. The obvious difficulty is not having tenor or bass sections, but have you investigated music intended specifically for women's choirs?
I was in a school choir singing real hymns in the fourth grade (1979), and it breaks my heart to see the dumbed down music most children's choirs sing nowadays.

Stacy Burk (acountry)
Stacy Burk is a country music artist from Van Alstyne, Texas. His musical influences are George Strait, Don Williams and Jim Reeves – you can hear that in his voice. He's a genuine cowboy – you can see that in his confident demeanor. He's been around the block and is now back after leaving a record deal with Warner Bros. Their plan was to package Stacy as the real singing cowboy, the next big country artist. Unfortunately, all of that had to be left on the table to attend to his ailing mother. Burk walked away from it all, traveled back to Texas and stayed with his mother in her final days. Her passing put his life in perspective and his musical endeavors on hold.
Stacy grew up on a farm in Van Alstyne, TX, where his mother recognized her only child's talent and encouraged him to sing and play guitar. Stacy was always around horses. As a kid you never had to look farther than the pasture to find him. If he wasn't out riding, he was tending to chores, being a kid and singing around the farm. "My mother joked and …
